Lawrence County School District has five schools. At the northern end of Lawrence County is New Hebron Attendance Center. This K-8 school serves about 290 students. In the center of the county, there are three schools. Monticello Elementary School serves about 340 students in grades K-5. Rod Paige Middle School serves about 280 students in grades 6-8. Lawrence County High School, which includes Lawrence County Technology and Career Center, is the district's only high school serving about 540 students in grades 9-12. At the southern end of the county, Topeka Tilton Attendance Center serves about 310 students in grades K-8. Lawrence County School District has approximately 140 certified teachers. Lawrence County is a 4A classification, the third largest school classification in the MHSAA system. From archery, to track and field, to football and beyond, the district has plenty of sporting and extracurricular activity opportunities on very successful teams with tradition and expectation of future success. Graduates can be found at all of the surrounding four-year universities. The Technology and Career Center is one of the best in the state, allowing students who choose to follow a technological based career track to do so with excellent instructional expertise, equipment, and introductory hands-on experience that provides them with an excellent beginning foundation.
