Dr. Dorsey Named Magnolia State School Counselor of the Year

The Magnolia State School Counselor Association is pleased to announce that Dr. Ebonee Magee-Dorsey, Counselor at Monticello Elementary School and Rod Paige Middle School, has been selected as the Magnolia State School Counselor of the Year.

The School Counselor of the Year (SCOY) program honors the professionals who devote their careers to serving as advocates for all students, helping them achieve success in school and in life.

The Magnolia State SCOY is selected by an independent panel of education professionals based on several criteria including: advocacy for the school counseling profession, commitment to seeking out the most relevant and up to date professional development, demonstration of leadership and collaboration in his or her work and promoting equity and access to opportunities and rigorous educational experiences for all students to maximize student achievement.

Dr. Dorsey is an active member of the Magnolia State School Counselor Association, where she serves as the assistant chair. She is a member of the American School Counselor Association and Mississippi Association of Middle-Level Educators where she serves as Vice President.

Dr. Dorsey will travel to Washington, D.C. in 2023 to be honored with the winners from every other state, and to attend a black-tie gala where the American School Counselor Association will announce the national School Counselor of the Year.
